Checking in your child

Village Chapel takes the safety and security of the children in our care very seriously. Upon checking in, your child will get a printed name tag. The system will assign a randomly generated security code to each child. This code is then printed on their identification tag. The child’s identification tag also contains information that will allow us to contact a parent if needed during the service and important allergy information.

In addition to the child’s name tag, the parent or guardian will receive an identification tag with the corresponding security code. This assures that no one else may pick up your child. At the end of the service, simply show the matching tag to kids ministry servants who will match the security code to your child’s security code on their identification tag and dismiss him/her.

First time to Village Chapel? No worries! Our serve team will welcome you and show you where to check in your children. We will ask for the following personal information: family member’s names, children’s names and birthdates, family addresses, phone numbers, and any special instructions (allergies, special needs) for your child.

A Special Note
If, for some reason, your child needs you during the service, you will be sent a text message to your phone, so please keep your phone available and on vibrate. Upon exiting the sanctuary, head towards the kid's area, where a kids ministry servant will walk you to your child’s room.

Check-in FAQ

Which children will need to be checked in?
All children from birth through fifth grade will need to be checked in, dropped off and picked up by a parent/guardian.

Where can I check my child in?
After your initial visit and registration at the welcome desk, you can check your child in at any of the self-check-in stations.

If I have more than one child, will I receive more than one parent identification tag?

No. One identification tag will have all of your children’s security codes on it.

How will I be contacted if my child needs me during a service?

If, for some reason, your child needs you during the service, you will be sent a text message to your phone, so please keep your phone available and on vibrate. Upon exiting the sanctuary, head towards the kids' area, where a kids' ministry servant will walk you to your child’s room.

How will I know if it is the children’s ministry texting?

The church’s main number—740.983.4675 will display on your caller I.D.

Will I need to check my children out?

Yes, but not electronically. At the end of the service, simply show the matching tag to kids ministry servants who will match the security code to your child’s security code on their identification tag and dismiss him/her.

Can I give my identification tag to a grandparent, older sibling, or someone else to pick up my child?

Yes. But anyone picking up children must be in at least 6th grade.

What if I lose my identification tag?

See the Kids Supervisor at the nursery desk outside rooms 330/340 for assistance. Or approach the welcome desk in the main foyer.

What if there is a fire or weather emergency?

If a fire or weather were to occur, please do not come to retrieve your children. Our staff is trained in emergency procedures and will care for your child. Please do not go to the children’s area to retrieve them, as this will hamper the orderly evacuation of children. Once everyone is cared for and accounted for, you will be able to reunite with your child.
